A huge enthusiast of Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice cosplays as Winona Ryder’s Lydia Deetz in her frighteningly stunning red wedding dress in the film of 1988.
The Beetlejuice cosplayer wears an elegant red wedding dress that reminds us of Winona Ryder’s Lydia Deetz.
Cosplayer @_andthemoon_ was a part of Los Angeles’ WonderCon 2023 and was featured in the dress worn by Ryder in the final scene of Tim Burton’s 1988 comedy classic. Beetlejuice’s (Michael Keaton) actor, Michael Keaton, who played Beetlejuice, forced Deetz to marry him to allow him to cause chaos in the world of mortals. The cosplayer embodies Deetz’s introverted goth spirit, right down to her hairstyle and make-up, along with the exact red dress.

Beetlejuice was Burton’s second major studio film after his breakout film success in 1985’s Pee-wee’s Big Adventure. It told the story of the decrepit Maitlands (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) who discover their idyllic home taken over by the yuppie Deetz family, as well as their aloof daughter Lydia. The Maitlands, desperate to remove the Deetz from their homes decide to decide to turn towards the “bio-exorcist”, Beetlejuice. However, they’re met with unintended consequences when they say the name three times. Beetlejuice grossed $74 million in the United States with a budget of just $15 million. It brought Keaton back to popularity and made Ryder a star.
Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice
The success of Beetlejuice spawned an animated series that was a hit on ABC from 1989 to 1991, action characters from Kenner, video games and a Broadway stage musical in 2018. The film Beetlejuice wasn’t made despite the success of the movie. It was due to scheduling and scripting issues. Ryder has been pursuing a sequel since years in the belief that it can be only produced by bringing in Keaton as well as Burton as co-stars.

Ryder said that the movie was “an iconic one.” “The only way that it can actually be made is through Tim [Burton] and Michael [Keaton]. I’m not sure. There’s something that resonates with all ages, with that film. It’s interesting. It would be amazing to see this happen. If the conditions were in place. It’s a shame that you’re getting older and they’re producing television shows, sequels or even plays for the things you’ve done.”
Brad Pitt’s Plan B production company confirmed in 2022 that Beetlejuice II was in the process of being created. Although the participation of Ryder, Keaton and Burton is not officially announced, Catherine O’Hara reportedly signed on to reprise her role as Lydia’s mom Delia. Jenna Ortega, the star of Scream 6, is also on the verge of being Lydia’s daughter. The actor recently collaborated with Burton on the Addams Family spinoff series Wednesday on Netflix.
Beetlejuice IIhas not yet been given a release date.
