Godzilla fans pay tribute to Godzilla’s legendary nemesis in their unique Mechagodzilla costume.
This Halloween this year, this Halloween, a Godzilla costume pays tribute to the famous franchise.
Kai-Zilla (or @dr_kaju) featured the costume on their Twitter page. Kai-Zilla donned the costume at G-Fest (also known as Godzilla Fest), an annual event that is centered around Godzilla and other franchises within the Kaiju genre. Three of the images include Kai-Zilla standing beside his father, dressed in TARS one of the humanoid tactical robots from the 2014 science-fiction film Interstellar produced by Christopher Nolan.

Following the film’s debut in the year 1974’s Godzilla Vs. Mechagodzilla directed by Jun Fukuda, Mechagodzilla was one of the mainstays of the Godzilla series. The storyline of the film was centered around Godzilla’s fight with the metallic Titan after aliens crafted the Titan to conquer Earth. Mechagodzilla has appeared in a variety of live-action and animated films, including Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle (2018), Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S (2003), Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II (1993) as well as Godzilla vs. Kong (2021), among others. Ernest Cline wrote the 2011 science fiction novel Ready Player One and Steven Spielberg directed its 2018 film adaptation.
The 2002 film Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla produced by Maasaki Tezuka, had its U.S. debut on November 3, which is internationally recognized as “Godzilla Day.” The screening was held in over 450 cinemas throughout the United States. Fans were able to watch the original Japanese version with English subtitles as well as a featurette that had not been seen before. The same day, Godzilla fans that went to G-Fest also had the opportunity to watch the premiere of the short film Godzilla Fest Gigan Attackdirected by Kazuhiro Nakagawa ( Godzilla vs. Hedorah). Nakagawa made the film in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the feature film’s predecessor, Godzilla vs. Gigan, directed by Jun Fukuda.

Godzilla Fans received a plethora of Good News
Toho confirmed that they are working on a new Godzilla film is being planned. Takashi Yamazaki, who worked on the last Toho Godzilla film Shin Godzilla and will be the director of the film. The film, which is yet to receive an official title or working title, is set to release in November. 3 2023. The follow-up to Legendary Pictures Godzilla vs. Kongis being filmed with a release date set for March 15, 2024.
