Sydney Sweeney from Madame Web is said to be playing Julia Carpenter in the upcoming Sony Spider-Man Universe movie.
Euphoriastar Sydney Sweney was reportedly revealed to play the role of Sydney Sweney in the upcoming Sony Spider-Man Universe film Mrs. Web.
Jeff Sneider, an industry insider from the Hot Mic podcast said that Sweeney was portraying “the second” Spider-Woman character in Madame Web. Marvel Comics was Jessica Drew’s second Spider-Woman. Julia Carpenter was the second in-continuity Spider-Woman. Julia’s involvement is quite notable considering that she is the second (and current!) Madame Web in Sony’s Madame Web film, having succeeded Cassandra Webb.

Madame Web is slated for release in theaters next month, with production completed this past January. Dakota Johnson will play the eponymous clairvoyant. She first appeared as a character in the 1980s Amazing Spider-Man #210. Sweeney added his name to the cast of Mrs. Web. It’s unclear at this point which Madame Web Johnson will be playing Cassandra Webb and Julia Carpenter. Sneider claims that Sweeney might be playing Julia. However, this would support Johnson’s claim that Johnson is Cassandra.
Who is Marvel’s Julia Carpenter?
Created by Jim Shooter and Mike Zeck, Julia Carpenter/Spider-Woman made her first full appearance in 1984’s Marvel Super Heroes #7. Julia wore a black-and-white uniform that inspired Peter Parker/Spider-Man to create the symbiote suit. The suit was first acquired by the original wall-crawler Secret Wars #8. Julia was later referred to as Arachne by Ms. Marvel in 2006, then finally took on the role of Madame Web for 2010’s Amazing Spider-Man #337.
